MARROW:(Cucurbita pepo conv. giromontina)
Characteristics;Includes courgettes, marrows are tender & must 
not be planted outdoor if there is a chance of frost;small marrows may be 
used as courgettes. All have male & female blooms,the latter carry a small
fruitlet behind the flower. To assist pollination remove the petals from 
male bloom & thrust the core of bloom into female flower. Use different
male flower for each female bloom Soil; individual holes are dug at sites
30" apart for bush(non-trailing) plants & 4ft. apart for trailing plants. 
Refill holes with 66% soil mixed with 33% compost or decayed manure Sow;
under glass;April-Early May,not too early,to avoid getting potbound,
sow 2 seeds to a 3" pot. Sow; 3 seeds/site in Late May or early June,reduce
to strongest seedling. After having prepared pockets of seed compost on
site plant seeds 1/2"-3/4" deep on edge,thin 1/pot or 1/site Seeds;10/g.

seeds are sold at the above prices in plain packets without sowing instructions on the    
packets, but sowing instructions are found in my vegetable list for most of the varieties 
of vegetable seeds sold by weight in the main vegetable list.                             

SECTION 2;                                                                                
CALCULATING PRICE PER WEIGHT; When the weight of vegetable seed required is not shown in  
the Vegetable Ready Reckoner the seed cost is found by multiplying the PRICE PER GRAM     
of the LETTER GROUP by the weight of the seed required.   This total(if the weight is     
over 1 gram) is multiplied by the % of discount allowed for in the DISCOUNT RANGE that    
the weight of seed is in this total is subtracted from the first total to give the cost.  
EXAMPLE:10g.Pumpkin Mammouth C=34P/g*10g=£3.40:£3.40*20% discount=68P;(£3.40-68P=£2.72)
